Welcome

The Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association

Welcome to the Kyle of Sutherland website, if you are looking for quality, Salmon, Sea Trout or Brown Trout fishing in the Highlands of Scotland this is the place for you.

The Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association is fortunate in having access to some 14 miles of one of the last remaining pristine waterways in the North of Scotland, set amidst the outstanding natural beauty of the County of Sutherland, one of the UK’s last remaining wildernesses.  The association’s water extends from the Creich pool, to the East of Bonar Bridge, and as far West to where it is joined by the rivers Cassley and Oykel.  The Kyle has four feeder rivers which are amongst the most prolific Salmon Rivers in the Highlands, the Carron, Shin, Cassley and Oykel, all of which are top class Highland fly fisheries.  It is, therefore, little wonder that the Kyle is such a popular fishery.

The Kyle has long been known for its Sea Trout and every year returns a good head of fish, with fish regularly topping the 3lb mark, with good sized Brown Trout also present.  The association originated as a Sea Trout club.

The sight of a fish being caught on rod and line is just as enthralling to both anglers and non anglers alike, and this is a sight that local residents and visitors can expect to see on a regular basis.  Using the main road through Bonar Bridge as a vantage point, when the tide is right, a line of anglers wading in the Kyle at Bonar Bridge is the usual view.

We are also able to offer our members and visiting anglers the opportunity to fish four Highland hill lochs, Laggan, Laro, Cracail Mhor and Buidhe for wild Brown Trout.  Members also have Loch Migdale to fish. See our fishing’s page for more information and maps

We can offer the fly fisherman,

·        Salmon Fishing

·        Sea Trout

·        Brown Trout

·        Day/Weekly tickets

·        Boats available on the loch’s

Day Tickets are available from local outlets.

The Kyle is also home to an outstanding assortment of wildlife including its resident Otters, the huge selection of birds that wade and nest in it, the Deer that can be seen along its banks visiting Osprey and Whooper Swans.  The list is endless, come and see for yourself.
